Title: The Small Scoop After Dinner
My mother never asked for anything special after a long day. She would simply clear the table, put the kettle on, and say dessert could wait because the ice cream was too hard.
One Sunday, we brought out Fondu and let the first scoop glide into the bowl while everyone was still sitting together. No waiting, no bent spoon, no small frustration at the end of a good meal. Just a warm, quiet moment that kept everyone at the table a little longer.
That was when I understood that love is not always a grand gesture. Sometimes it is making dessert easier for someone who has spent the whole day taking care of everyone else.
